Liked: Good central location. Reasonable price for central Paris on Tour de France final weekend. Room small but adequate for the weekend.

Disliked: Room not that clean but beds clean. Safe in room but broken so had to take all valuables.

Liked: This little hotel has lots of character and loved the old French decor. It's also PERECT location, right in heart of Paris and you're able to walk everywhere!

Disliked: The wifi didn't work.

Liked: The concierge went above and beyond for us. He was a very sweet, very French man who was extremely helpful and made up for the off-putting building. Also, the complimentary breakfast was great. Very tasty croissants and fruit and coffee. You could have as much as you want so we really filled up so that we would have energy to walk around and explore and also to not have to eat again until dinner! Dining and even groceries in France are very expensive so this was a huge perk.

Disliked: The actual physical building is very unattractive (at least while I was there in spring 2010). I wouldn't recommend the hostel if you care about things like that. We don't mind the look/upkeep of facilities if the price is right and didn't actually spend any time indoors except to sleep, so it wasn't an issue for us.
