Liked: Puerto Parque Tinquilco is a family-run site located close to the entrance of the Huerquehue National Park. It is easily accesible by local bus from Pucon, with services that run times a day throughout the year (three in low, four during high season). Overall, the site is charming and has access to Lake Tinquilco with a beautiful view over the lake and parts of the national park. There is also a restaurant and the possibility to rent kayaks or hire a boat to fish in the lake for trout.
Disliked: We stayed two nights at a small cabaƱa in early January. Although Carlos was quite helpful with fixing some of the problems at the beginning, the cottage lacked basic kitchen supplies, which may be a problem for people travelling lightly (no salt, no dish soap, etc.). We had a wonderful time at first until we noticed the mice living under the roof (you can hear them and occasionally see their tails dangling through the slats from the bed). I understand that the presence of mice is something you've to live with in a cottage, but I think the roof needs some urgent fixing (simply closing the gaps between the slats, for instance). Finding mouse droppings on your bedsheets in the morning is simply unacceptable and seriously spoiled our stay in an otherwise beautiful site. No credit cards accepted.

Liked: This is a very special place to stay. the natural beauty of the guesthouse and surroundings are absolutely fantastic. As is the owner Carlos. He is a man with a passion. He does not speak English very well, but is always ready to help you or to just have a little chat. for us it was a very special experience. We would recommend this place to everyone who loves the nature and the silentness.
Disliked: The only thing we have missed is a hot shower. But this is just a small sacrfice when staying in this inpsiring guesthouse.

Liked: It is far from Pucon, it this is advantage for me! Just 10 min walk to national park, it is heaven on earth, peace and quite, situated on the lake. Owners are extremely friendly, they treat you like a friend, not a client. We had a great traditional patagonian lamb slowed cooked on fire, and we just shared the cost of the meat with Carlos! They also own very nice hostel in Pucon if you need it... PS There is no other place on earth when hitch-hiking is so easy, if not feel like walking 10-15 min to national park entry (and there you will walk A LOT) just use you thumb! Chilean people are so friendly!
Disliked: absolutely nothing

Liked: The owner Carlos is a very nice and funny man. He helped us a lot and we had good fun with him the days we stayed at his hotel. There are unbelievable beautiful surroundings and it is the perfect spot to relax. The nature is incredible and the big lake is very nice to swim around.
Disliked: We didn't meet any people at our stay so this is not the place to go if you want a lot of socialising and party. It is also a long way from the town which can be a bit frustrating in the end if you have to go to Pucon to do some trips. This place is the perfect place to go for some relaxing days in the nature and is a good way to get away from the usual hostel-life for a short time. We enjoyed some good days and would love to go back one day.

Liked: Private cabanas in a beautiful setting, right on Lake Tinquilco. Fairly close to the entrance to Huerquehue national park (around 20 minute walk to the gate). Although it is a long way out of Pucon town the owners provide transport in and out of town to meet your schedule. Cabanas have a private kitchen but there is also a restaurant on site serving good home cooking (excellent trout - catch it yourself in the pond out the back).
Disliked: No heating in the cabana. Kitchen in the cabana is a bit shabby although clean and functional.

Liked: Beautiful location, excellent for the park, but very bad for the town of Pucon. The lodge is located 30km out of the town of which the last 14km is a rough track/road. So once there you feel slightly trapped. There were no other travellers just mum's / dad's and kids on holiday. The food in the restaurant was bland and tasteless despite the hype. The rooms ok (no towels provided) and the bed lumpy and uncomfortable. Carlos the owner is extremely friendly and helpful, but didn't rise (heavy night before) to say goodbye, which was a shame.

Liked: This was a great place to stay - the best across south america so far. We were initially worried about the 30km drive from town but this brought peace and tranquility in a national park, with a room overlooking the picturesque lake in a mountaneous valley where you can kayak, row or swim if the heat gets too much. The hotel is also a high quality restaurant - we ate wild boar last night which was amazing. If you stay in the house you almost feel like a family member although separate lodgings and cabins are there also. It was also good to be able to ride off from bed to the hot springs on horses. Back into Pucon feels like going home from what was truly a holiday from the backpacking. I wish we could have stayed longer...this place is worth a couple of weeks

Liked: We had a whole little house, including kitchen, living room, sleeping room and bathroom with a view on the lake on our own. The owner Carlos is very friendly, helpful, gave us a free ride from Pucon to the hostel and had a lot of information. You can also take a bus (goes 3 times a day both directions) to get to the hostel. There is also a restaurant and you can use boats on the lake. It is only a 25 min walk to the park entrance of the national park Huerquehue (or take the bus) with very good hiking options. So just a perfect place to relax and to enjoy the nature!!
