Liked: Interesting place with pretty fuky decoration going on.

Disliked: As said in previous reviews, Vee the owner is rather friendly and helpful.. If you want to go out every night and book tours with him. The hostel is fairly clean all though the sheets on my bed had seen a few other people before me. The set up being one big common room, you can forget about privacy or a good night sleep. Location was pretty poor, nothing around a part from a 7/11 about 10mn walk away and each trip to town or to the bus/train station is pretty costly .

Liked: I always stay at Bunchun when I'm in Chiang Mai. It has an amazing, chilled out and artistic vibe. The owner is very helpful in booking tickets for tours and activities. He also takes everyone out to awesome local places and parties. There's never a dull day at Bunchun! I've met so many great people here. Bunchun is perfect for people who are open minded, fun, and interested in seeing the real side of CM.

Liked: This is THE place to stay to see the alternative side to Chiang Mai. I stayed with Vee a year ago when he first opened the place and I was welcomed back this time like an old friend. I have made friends for life (both foreign and Thai) staying at Bunchun. Don't come here expecting a typical westernised flashpacker experience, instead bring an open mind and you will be greatly rewarded and see the local, authentic side of Chiang Mai and meet some truly amazing people. Vee, thank you for everything that you do. I probably wouldn't be moving here permenantly if it weren't for you.

Liked: This place is incredible and I cannot recommend it enough. Don't be put off by the mixed dorm (mistresses on the floor) it's comfy and cool at night. Everyone is so friendly but the highlight of this place is Vee, the owner. He took me out for breakfast when I arrived, will book everything you could possibly need (without charging any commission) and just makes your whole experience of Chiang Mao even better. He also has two adorable Chihuahua puppies! I'm going to stay there again as soon as I can!

Disliked: Absolutely nothing.

Liked: Great atmosphere! Everyone quickly became a little bunchun family and fee was amazing! He took everyone out and was always keen to show us all the "real" chiang Mai! We definitely went places few tourists go and had SO much fun!

Disliked: Ac is advertised but you need to be persistent insisting it gets turned on. Average hostel cleanliness but nothing to complain about really. Not much privacy if that's what you're lookin for but I loves the community atmosphere!

Liked: The host, Vee, was informative and helpful. He seemed to have quite a bit of knowledge about Chiang Mai, especially the party/clubbing scene. If you are looking for a host with a young and artsy vibe that is interested in showing your group a good time, this is the place for you. Also, the place is very open to creative expression and there are a number of art supplies you can use to paint on the walls.

Disliked: The "hostel" was basically one big room, and depending on the guests that are also staying there, your stay can be a comfortable one, or one that is quite intrusive. I wouldn't reccomend this property to a family or anyone that is not a backpacker. The beds are comfortable and clean, fans are also provided. We didn't particularly enjoy our stay because the lights were on throughout the night, and people came in very early in the morning and woke other boarders up. If you are a light sleeper or someone looking for a restful sleep at a reasonable hour, look elswhere. The bathrooms were also quite unclean and there is no flush toilet.
