Overview

The Palace of Sissy (Achillion) 1/km.
Achilleio It was built in the last century (1890 - 1892) for the empress Elizabeth of Austria - Hungary (Princess Sissy). She was assassinated in Geneva in 1898, whereupon Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany bought Achilleio as a holiday home. The large building is of neoclassical style with vast gardens, Renaissance statues and work of art. The most famous statue is the two bronze runners, the dying Achilles and the statue of Achilles Triumphant. Today the palace is a museum of the personal belongings of the Empress and the Kaiser.
