Liked: Nice spotless rooms with new easy to use air-con units. Helpful, friendly staff. 10-15 minutes walk to the delightful but made for tourists West St district, but the hostel itself is in the middle of a slice of 'real' neighbourhood China, I see this as the best of both worlds. Good value.
Disliked: Effectively impossible to find if you're on foot and don't speak Chinese. Hostel is close to where the map indicates but it's a rabbit warren, there's nothing in english to indicate 'ave 1', the hostel doesn't have an english sign outside (though I've suggested one), the reception is on the 2nd floor so all you see is a door and stairs. Failing finding a local who can help (I tried about 30 including other hotels about 50m away), they're happy to come and rescue you if you give them a call. If you're taxi-ing make sure you have clear instructions in Chinese and the hostel's # as a backstop. Aside from this the only negative is the lack of a common area apart from the kitchen (which you pay extra to use).
