Liked: Facilities: Most of the time it was flawless, but the only time I wanted to take a shower in the evening, there was no hot water. At the reception, they told me that, since it was winter and lots of people were using hot water, it had run out.Location: it's just across the street of a subway station (line 4: Lu Ban Road). It costs RMB30 to go to People's square, and RMB40 to go to Pudong.Surroundings: there are some restaurants around, though no one was spectacular. A huge supermarket is 2 blocks away, which was pretty handy.A problem I had (but you shouldn't): the drying machine wouldn't dry my clothes. Therefore, doing laundry took me 13 hours instead of 3. The staff eventually took my clothes to a nearby laundry shop to get them dried (no additional costs), and put a sign onto the drying machine, which read it was broken. And they told me a new machine was about to be acquired. It should probably be there once you get to the hostel, I guess.

Liked: very eclectic mix of travellers and also a few people who work in shanghai who can show you the best tasting and cheapest local places to eat. definitely a great place to stay if you want to get to know the real shanghai.

Liked: staff were helpful. Its a bit of a walk to the centre but its easily doable or its 20rmb to take a taxi at most
