The hostel was super clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Upon arrival thy provided us with a map and suggestions of places to visit and areas that were not very safe and should therefore avoid. Breakfast was delicious- real coffee (a rarity in Chile), freshly baked bread, home-made jam and marmalade and fresh fruit! Overview

We are on a pictureque cobbled street on Cerro Alegre. The hill is the heart of the old "English quarter" of the city, first settled by wealthy European merchants in the 19th century. Here you will find weird and wonderful buildings in all sorts of architectural styles. The neighbourhood, while peaceful, is home to most of the city's best restaurants as well as dozens of boutiques, art galleries, museums, cafés and promenades with views over the bay.

A winding walk along the hills will lead you through ever changing views of the city and bay to Pablo Neruda's famed house and the open air museum, while the bustle of downtown is only 5 minutes away on foot or via any one of the three funicular railways that link the city centre with our hilltop neighbourhood.
